In 2015, the Australian Government passed a new law stating that mobile phone providers can store their customers data for up to two years. In many other countries, this law was overruled, however in Australia, the push against the new law was minuscule in compassion to other countries.
The world is one huge network with nodes interacting and changing-causing constant evolution. The telegraph is a major contributor to the networks that we have in place today. However, as technologies emerged, networks began to evolve and the way that information was extracted from the world changed dramatically.
However, what really brought the idea of extracted information to full circle was the idea that we rely heavily on digital information networks. As Felix Stalder notes, “we look up maps and physical places online.” This means that the physical world is transformed into a digital one where the structures that we have built within nature have evolved into pixels.
